Dear Henry:

The Rivers without Boundaries International Coalition (RwB) signs the
statement.

I regret we were not notified when the NGO analysis of the draft DA was
taking place. As a result the analysis misses demands on extremely harmful
"Infrastructure for water transport" (dredging, canalization and building
water engineering structures on rivers).

Please, see below our own preliminary comments on Draft DA , any feedback in
next 3 days will be very welcome. We are not experts on the EU legislative
process, therefore could miss something important.

Cheers

  Dear all,

The European Commission has published its draft law (delegated act in EU
jargon) with criteria on the climate taxonomy.

This document sets out the technical criteria which will actually give the
taxonomy its final shape.

It's not good. Among others, lobbyists on bioenergy, hydropower,
incineration, and transport have all been doing their worst and the criteria
have been weakened compared to the Technical Expert Group's recommendations.

We are reacting: here is a ten point Civil Society statement on the
Taxonomy which is open for sign-ons until Sunday 13 December, for a public
media/social media launch on Monday 14 December.
a.. If you can, please sign it today using the Google Form provided
b.. Could you please also share this with contacts who could support it?
Please support us if you can! We need civil society to mobilise,
strengthen the criteria, and kick harmful activities out of the Taxonomy for
good!

These ten points were based on a joint NGO analysis of the draft Taxonomy
Climate Delegated Acts which includes a scorecard on page 5 which scores the
criteria of 50 activities in a simple way (green / orange / red - they
correspond to the colour of the recommendations provided for each activity
analysed in the document).

We appreciate that neither the analysis nor the statement may be perfect.
They were compiled in a short amount of time and deal with very long and
highly technical documents. The time constraint comes from the need to
influence the Commission on this crucial process.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

  Best wishes,

  Henry and Sebastien
