United Nations special envoy for Myanmar,
Christine Schraner Burgener, called for dialogue on Friday after arriving in
Bangkok and being denied entry to Myanmar. An undetermined number of people
were wounded and at least 10 killed the same day by troops firing rifle

The United Nations has made progress toward
eradicating improvised explosive devices from 215 square miles of land, UN
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the UN Security Council on Thursday,
but "challenges have intensified." Guterres urged the 33 member states that
have not yet ratified the international treaty against land mines introduced
