Dear all,

Sharing this very important paper which links Just Transition to broader social justice issues. Just Transition should be the overarching framework for a transition that includes not only workers in fossil fuel industries but others who are marginalised by the extractive economic model and inequitable social paradigms. This report draws the connections between decarbonisation and the disabled.

It was shared on the Human Rights and Climate Change Working Group email list so apologies for cross-posting.

Warmly,
Meera.

  Dear All,

It is with great pleasure that the ILO has published a global paper on the nexus of climate change, persons with disabilities and labour issues. It highlights that implementing a just transition that ensures disability inclusion in climate action will require appropriate legal standards, social protection mechanisms, skills development initiatives and attitudinal changes at the societal level.

The ILO policy brief "Persons with disabilities in a just transition to a low-carbon economy" is now available for download in accessible file formats at https://www.ilo.org/global/topics/disability-and-work/WCMS_727084

For any questions, please feel free to reach out to the ILO disability team at disability at ilo.org

  Kind regards,

  Rishabh Kumar Dhir
