Dear co-signers and allies,
Thank you so much for your support in signing our joint Statement, The False Promises of Hydropower: How dams fail to deliver the Paris climate agreement and sustainable development goals.

More than 250 organizations have joined their voice to this call for action, representatives in Paris hosted a successful side-event to the World Hydropower Congress on Monday, and on Tuesday morning Extinction Rebellion demonstrated in the streets. We're making our message heard! 

The Statement is now being circulated in social media and we’re asking for your help to get the word out, as the Congress continues this week.

Please see below examples of social media posts in English, Spanish and Portuguese for your use. Feel free to translate and share widely in many other more languages as well. 

We’re also circulating a public petition calling on members of the International Hydropower Association to commit to halt or avoid any dam project that would impact our World Heritage sites: http://chng.it/FhfHh2fNWc It's open to all, so please call on your followers to sign if you're able.

Now is the time to ACT! 250+ organizations from around the world call for a halt to funding hydroelectric projects, and the strengthening of regulations for those in operation.  



Dams generate methane emissions, violate the human rights of communities that depend on rivers, promote deforestation, and otherwise exploit natural resources. 



Within the framework of the World Hydropower Congress, being held this week in Paris, we’re calling for the recognition that hydropower is neither a 'clean' nor 'green' source of energy.

Por eso, y en el marco del Congreso de Mundial de Energía Hidroeléctrica, que se celebra ahora en París, + 250 organizaciones de todo el mundo llaman a dejar de observar a este proceso una fuente de ‘limpia’ y ‘verde’ de generación de energía.
