            My name’s John Curry. I mostly work in the back office managing 
the budget at SumOfUs, so I don’t usually send you emails.

            Before leaving the office to celebrate the holidays with my 
family, I always do a final check of our budget.

            I just finished going through the numbers for 2019 -- and to 
fully fund all the important fights we face next year, we need to raise 
$151,476 by December 31.

            will you help close the gap?

            2019’s been tough. The rise of the right wing, political chaos 
in many countries, the devastating fires in the Amazon. It's been a lot to 
take in, day after day this year.

            But I’m lucky because working for SumOfUs, every day I see 
people like you signing petitions, sharing actions, contributing ideas and 
chipping into to fund the fight back. You never give up. That’s what keeps 
me going.

            You’re not afraid to take on even the biggest corporate bullies 
like Bayer, Google, and Nestle. When they try to silence us, you don't 
respond with fear, but with courage.

            And you know what really inspires me? These winning campaigns 
are funded almost entirely by small donations from members like you. This is 
true people power.

            In 2019, 137,602 people just like you chipped in 327,356 single 
donations to pay for essential legal support, targeted advertisements, 
surveys to prove to politicians that people care, viral videos to send 
corporate PR bosses into a panic, and much more.

            But  I’ve crunched the numbers and if we can’t pull together 
$151,476 more before December 31, we’ll have to scale back our campaigns in 
2020.
