An appeal to the Russian President for protection of Batareynaya Bay on the South Coast of the Gulf of Finland Baltic Sea: Welcome to the Batareynaya Bay of the Leningrad Region near the Lebyazhy Ramsar site - a wetland of international importance.
Thousands of residents of the region come here on summer vacation.
This year the bay was given over to the construction of a sea terminal, a plant and a railway.
But on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland there are already three harbour complexes: St. Petersburg, Bronka and Ust-Luga.
If a port is built here, a huge and popular recreation area will be destroyed, 100 hectares of forest will be cut down, and the habitat of the Red Data Book species of plants and animals will be disrupted.
You cannot turn the coast into a continuous industrial zone. It is more practical to use already existing port facilities and principles of marine spatial planning.
We, residents of the region, demand compliance with Article 42 of the Russian Constitution: the right to a healthy environment!
Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich! We ask you, as the guarantor of the Constitution of Russia, to preserve the Battery Bay - a favorite vacation spot for residents of the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland!

  В этом году бухту отдали на строительство морского терминала, завода и железной дороги.

  Если здесь построят порт, то уничтожат огромную и популярную зону отдыха, вырубят 100 гектаров леса, а среда обитания Красной книги видов растений и животных.
  Нельзя превратить берег в непрерывную промзону. Практичнее использовать уже существующие портовые сооружения и принципы морского пространственного планирования.
  Мы, жители региона, требуем соблюдения статьи 42 Конституции РФ: право на здоровую окружающую среду!
  Уважаемый Владимир Владимирович! Просим Вас, как гаранта Конституции России, сохранить Батарейный залив - любимое место отдыха жителей южного берега Финского залива!
