прочтения этой статьи — она только что вышла в «Science Advances».<BR><BR><A

очень актуально для концепции, которую исследовали некоторые члены нашей группы:
роль эвапотранспирации в контроле климата Земли, включая биотический насос.
Основная часть статьи довольно неясна, но основные понятия хорошо
объяснены.<BR><BR>По сути, по мере усиления глобального потепления земные
растения попадают в другую среду. В атмосфере становится больше воды, но в то же
время атмосфера становится суше с точки зрения «дефицита давления пара» (ДПД) –
разницы между давлением насыщения и фактическим. Тенденция впечатляет: она
началась примерно в 2000 году (см. рис. 1 статьи). Это изменение имеет
последствия. Кроме того, растения ощущают повышенное парциальное давление
CO2.<BR><BR>Что типично для сложных систем, неясно, что именно является
причиной, но происходит ряд изменений: из-за более высоких температур или,
возможно, из-за более высокой концентрации CO2, растения держат свои устьица
ближе, чем до начала увеличение ВПД. Следовательно, они испаряют меньше — я
думаю, что происходит отрицательная петля. Это также вызвано увеличением
концентрации CO2, которая «перекармливает» растения, заставляя их устьица
закрываться. Это было предсказано ещё в 1977 году<BR>Роусон и др. (цитата по
статье). Исследование Роусона оказалось пророческим, я уже отмечал это ранее. С

that I am a little depressed, this morning, after reading this paper -- it just
came out on "Science Advances"<BR><BR><A

is highly relevant to the concept that some members of our group have been
exploring: the role of evapotranspiration in controlling Earth's climate,
including the biotic pump. The bulk of the paper is rather obscure, but the main
concepts are well explained. <BR><BR>Basically, Earth's plants are experiencing
a different environment as global warming increases. There is more water in the
atmosphere but, at the same time, the atmosphere becomes drier in terms of
"Vapor pressure deficit" (VPD) the difference between the saturation pressure
and the actual one. The trend is impressive: it started around 2000 -- see fig 1
of the paper. This change is having consequences. In addition, plants are
sensing the increased CO2 partial pressure. <BR><BR>As typical of complex
systems, it is not clear what causes what, but a series of changes are
occurring: because of the higher temperatures, or perhaps because of the higher
CO2 concentration, plants are keeping their stomata closer than they did before
the start of the VPD increase. Hence, they evapotranspirate less -- I think
what's happening is a negative loop. It is also created by the increase in CO2
concentration that "overfeeds" plants making their stomata close. It was already
predicted in 1977 by <BR>Rawson et al. (cited in the paper). Rawson's study was
prophetic, I had noted it earlier on. With some colleagues of the group, we are
writing a paper exactly on this subject. <BR><BR>In short, less VPD means less
rain, and the consequence is the current "global browning" that's replacing the
earlier "global greening" by now a thing of the past. It is not a small thing:
forests risk to disappear. Can you understand what that means?<BR><BR>And think
that some idiots out there are saying aloud that CO2 is "food for plants" and
that we should be happy to have more in the atmosphere. They forgot the basic
law of ecosystems that is "you can't do just one thing."<BR><BR>In the meantime,
those silly naked monkeys find nothing better to do than kill each other in
