express appreciation to experts, specialized
institutions and groups who have already submitted
nominations for authors, review editors and fellows to
contribute to the drafting of GEO-7. As per the
resolution entitled “Future of the Global Environment
Outlook” (<A
href="https://un.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bad7869ef53565833a29bbbdc&id=ec59f6b7ed&e=e5f378fb6c"
target=_blank>UNEP Resolution 5/3</A>) UNEP distributed
the attached request for nominations for authors, review
editors and fellows to contribute to the drafting of
GEO-7. This request also included a call for expressions
of interest from institutions who may wish to become
collaborating centers for the GEO process. Authors,
review editors and fellows will work closely with the
co-chairs of the assessment and the GEO Secretariat to
ensure a solutions-focused, policy relevant and
scientifically credible GEO-7 is produced by 2026.
Collaborating centers will work closely with the GEO
Secretariat to provide expertise to the GEO-7 process
and help deliver supporting services in the areas of
capacity building, knowledge generation and support for
policy making.</P>
<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; LINE-HEIGHT: 1.5">To ensure
interested experts, specialized institutions and groups
are allowed more time for nomination and to ensure a
broad range of expertise from natural sciences to
policy, economic and social sciences as well as
expertise in outlooks and scenarios are included in
GEO-7, the deadline for these nominations have now been
extended to Tuesday January 31, 2023 (Midnight EAT).</P>
<P
style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; LINE-HEIGHT: 1.5">Specialized
institutions and groups of assessment experts are
requested to send in the letter(s) of nomination and
CV(s) of their nominee(s) before the new deadline of 31
January 2023, to facilitate an effective selection
process for authors, review editors and fellows. Nominee
letters and CVs should be uploaded on the dedicated
nomination portal at the following web address: <A
href="https://un.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bad7869ef53565833a29bbbdc&id=dc169f7ede&e=e5f378fb6c"
target=_blank>https://wesr.unep.org/form/geo-experts-nomination</A>
for authors, review editors or fellows who wish to be
