В связи с приближающимся окончанием Десятилетия биоразнообразия Организации Объединенных Наций (2011–2020) и подготовкой к принятию странами Глобальной рамочной программы в области биоразнообразия на период после 2020 года, настоящий выпуск доклада "Состояние лесов мира" (СОФО) посвящен рассмотрению вклада лесов и людей, которые используют их и управляют ими, в дело сохранения и устойчивого использования биоразнообразия. Леса покрывают чуть больше 30 процентов суши в мире, однако они являются средой обитания для подавляющего большинства известных науке видов наземных растений и животных. К сожалению, леса и связанное с ними биоразнообразие по-прежнему подвергаются угрозе в результате деятельности, направленной на преобразование земель в сельскохозяйственные угодья, или под воздействием хищнической эксплуатации, большая часть которой является незаконной.В докладе "Состояние лесов мира – 2020" оценивается проделанная работа по решению общемировых задач и достижению целей, и дается анализ результатов политики, мероприятий и подходов как с точки зрения сохранения, так и с точки зрения обеспечения устойчивого развития. В приводимых в докладе тематических исследованиях представлены примеры инновационных приемов, сочетающих меры по сохранению и устойчивому использованию биоразнообразия лесов, для реализации сбалансированных решений, отвечающих потребностям как человека, так и всей планеты.

      Drawing on inputs from almost 200 national correspondents around the world and, in total, more than 700 contributors, this major FAO publication provides the most up-to-date and authoritative data available on global forest resources.

      The Global Forest Resources Assessment<https://www.fao.org/forest-resources-assessment> (FRA) 2025 presents a detailed analysis of forest extent and change; characteristics; biomass and carbon; policies and legislation; designation and management; ownership and management rights; disturbances; non-wood forest products; and more.

      It finds that, although the rate of deforestation is slowing, forests are still being lost at nearly 11 million hectares per year. The area of planted forests continues to expand, but at a slower rate than before. Legally protected forests now cover one-fifth of the total forest area, and more than half the world’s forests are under formal management plans.

      FRA 2025 is an essential resource for understanding long-term trends in forest resources and how they relate to global goals and targets, including those on biodiversity, climate and sustainable land use.
