upon a time, the iconic Tasmanian Devil lived all over
the mainland area of Australia, roaming the dry forests
and coastal woodlands. Today, though, they are listed as
<B>Extinct on the mainland</B> and are </SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 16px"><B>only living on the island of
Tasmania. <A

continuing to decrease and they're officially listed as
Endangered.</A></B><BR><BR>Luckily, scientists are
working hard to reverse this trend. A breeding program
in mainland Australia is now seeing incredible results,
with 10 babies ("joeys") born in just the first half of
2025 alone!<BR><BR>These marsupials are <B>extremely
important to the ecosystems around them.</B> As
carnivores, they help keep wildlife populations in check
and even protect ecosystems against invasive species!
They even help keep other species healthy and
disease-free by acting as scavengers.<BR><BR>For
generations, farmers feared the Tasmanian Devil's impact
on their livestock and so they <B>persecuted and hunted
the animals nearly until the point of extinction.</B>
Now, humans are continuing to hurt Tasmanian Devils
through habitat destruction and human development
projects, as well as climate change impacting the
environments around them.<BR><BR><B>It's humans' fault
that these incredible animals nearly died out entirely.
So it's also our responsibility to help their
populations recover and rebound! </B>To do that, we need
the dedication and hard work of researchers at the
Aussie Ark's Barrington Tops sanctuary, who are leading
the largest Tasmanian Devil breeding program in mainland
