<P>Canadian company First Quantum Minerals Perú is threatening
to<STRONG> rip open the precious rainforest for mining, polluting
vital water sources and killing wildlife</STRONG> like the
vulnerable black spider monkey.</P>
<P>But the Indigenous peoples of the Shawi Nation have a watertight
plan to <STRONG>beat this bully in court.</STRONG> We can help them
win – then supercharge their alliance’s efforts to <STRONG>protect a
massive 86 MILLION acres</STRONG> of Amazon rainforest!</P>

<P>Known as the Earth’s lungs, the Amazon rainforest is a crucial
carbon sink and rain machine, teeming with thousands of species
vital to all life on Earth. After Brazil, Peru is home to the
second-largest area of the Amazon – but it’s fast disappearing.
<STRONG>Millions of acres have been destroyed by mining and logging
companies.</STRONG></P>
<P>Now, the Shawi Nation, which holds <STRONG>200 Indigenous
communities, is facing an existential threat.</STRONG> The Peruvian
government has granted 11 mining concessions to First Quantum on
Indigenous lands WITHOUT consulting local communities.</P>
<P>Locals are living in fear of an open-pit mine at the headwaters
of the stunning Cachiyacu River poisoning their drinking water and
destroying their way of life.</P>
<P><STRONG>It’s totally wrong and communities are fighting hard
against this toxic mining giant to prove it.</STRONG> With the Ekō
community behind them they could supercharge their efforts,
immediately hiring lawyers to <STRONG>block exploitation of their
land before it begins</STRONG> – and kick First Quantum out
forever.</P>
<P>The company is already scrambling after it was <STRONG>forced to
drop its mining projects in Panama following a huge
backlash</STRONG> from locals. So we know the Shawi Nation has a
real chance of winning this!</P>
