student and Green Card holder, was seized in front of
his pregnant wife and is now imprisoned in a notorious
Louisiana detention center — simply for
<STRONG>expressing opinions</STRONG> the U.S. government
didn't like. Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a Brown University
doctor with a valid work visa, was <STRONG>deported in
direct defiance of a judge's court order.</STRONG>
Georgetown researcher Badar Khan Suri, who is married to
a U.S. citizen, was detained after authorities accused
the couple of holding <STRONG>the "wrong" political
views.</STRONG><BR><BR><STRONG>The list goes on, and the
criteria for detention remain dangerously
vague.</STRONG> A French scientist was deported for
privately criticizing U.S. research policies. A UK
tourist was imprisoned for three weeks with no
explanation. A Canadian citizen with a valid work visa
and several German citizens were held in multiple
detention centers for two weeks.</P>
