<STRONG>giant nets to scrape up the seafloor, killing sharks, dolphins and

<P><BIG>And worse still, by tearing up parts of the seafloor, bottom-trawling is
releasing about one gigaton of carbon annually - that’s the same as the entire
global aviation industry! [4] It’s destroying the ocean's ability to combat

strategy includes a commitment to halting the biodiversity crisis and developing
an ‘Action Plan to Conserve Fisheries Resources and Protect Marine Ecosystems’,
which we’re calling the Ocean Action Plan for short.<BR>The Ocean Action Plan
should limit the most destructive fishing gear and create a plan to transition
to low-impact fishing. It has enormous potential to restore ocean health, but

The carbon released from bottom-trawlers contributes to ocean acidification and
reduces the ocean’s ability to absorb the extra heat from the atmosphere. As a
