<DIV>The European Commission has published its draft law (delegated act in EU
jargon) with criteria on the climate taxonomy.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>This document sets out the technical criteria which will actually give the
taxonomy its final shape.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>It's not good. Among others, lobbyists on bioenergy, hydropower,
incineration, and transport have all been doing their worst and the criteria
have been weakened compared to the Technical Expert
Group's recommendations.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>We are reacting: here is a <B><A

target=_blank>ten point Civil Society statemen</A><A

target=_blank>t on the Taxonomy</A></B> which is <B>open for
sign-ons until Sunday 13 December, for a public media/social media launch
on Monday 14 December. </B></DIV>

<DIV>These ten points were based on a <B><A
href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Tp67NSrGSacUnhkGxL6dMG5Qj18vz-ngjU1bfJQn5gk/edit?usp=sharing"
target=_blank>joint NGO analysis of the draft Taxonomy Climate Delegated
Acts</A> </B>which<B> </B>includes a scorecard on page 5 which scores
the criteria of 50 activities in a simple way (green / orange / red - they
correspond to the colour of the recommendations provided for each activity
analysed in the document).</DIV>

<DIV><B>We appreciate that neither the analysis nor the statement may be
perfect</B>.<B> </B>They were compiled in a short amount of
time and deal with very long and highly technical documents. <B>The
time constraint comes from the need to influence the Commission on this crucial
process.</B></DIV>
