<P><BIG>What matters more: <B>big business or the next generation?</B> On
Wednesday, that’s the decision that MEPs will have to make when they decide
whether to back a green recovery from the pandemic.</BIG></P>
<P><BIG>They could vote for a plan that writes a blank cheque to fossil fuel
companies. Or, they could demand a green recovery that moves us into the future,
which redesigns our economies, protects our children, and our planet.</BIG></P>
<P><BIG>But <B>polluting big business will be working hard to pressure them to
vote for fossil fuels.</B> With highly paid lobbyists and expert negotiators,
they’ll be doing all they can to get a plan that suits their interests, in
disregard for our climate and our future.</BIG></P>
<P><BIG>Whatever they vote, they will be doing it in our name, Vladimir. They
are our representatives. And they <B>rely on our votes to stay in their job.</B>
So, if we turn up the pressure, there’s a good chance they back a plan to move
us towards clean and renewable energy.</BIG></P>

<P><BIG>Last July, EU leaders agreed on a massive recovery plan worth hundreds
of billions of euros [1]. There are good elements within it. 30% of the money is
saved for action on climate change. But they failed to exclude oil, gas and coal
industries from this historic plan. If the rest - <B>nearly three quarters -
goes into industries that include fossil fuels,</B> it’s one step forward and
two steps back.</BIG></P>
<P><BIG>There are <B>already some MEPs who are pushing hard for a green
recovery.</B> Green MEPs want to put fossil fuels in the past. But <B>fossil
fuel companies are fighting for their survival</B> - so they’re doing all they
can to persuade other MEPs to make sure they get a chunk of the coronavirus
recovery money.</BIG></P>
<P><BIG>These other MEPs need a strong signal from their voters that we’ll
support them if they vote for a green recovery - can you contact an MEP and ask
them to back a recovery that safeguards our future?</BIG></P>
