pandemic is not the first time that the U.S. government has
shown an utter lack of planning, regard for science, or
compassion for its citizens. In 2017, <STRONG>Hurricane
Maria</STRONG> ravaged the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico,
<STRONG>leaving thousands of U.S. citizens dead and many more
without access to clean water, electricity, or safe
housing.</STRONG> Disaster relief was <EM>slow and inadequate,
headed by a president who thought it was okay to throw a few
rolls of paper towels into crowds of desperate people</EM> and
call it a day. <A
href="https://www.care2.com/go/z/e/A6x_l/zWC4/b04p6"><FONT
color=#006d7d><STRONG>But now, almost three years later, with
extreme weather events a certainty due to climate change,
Puerto Rico is far from in the clear.</STRONG></FONT></A> </P>
<P style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 2em"><STRONG>A crucial step in
preventing further devastation in Puerto Rico is to preserve
and protect its coral reefs,</STRONG> which provide
<EM>vital</EM> protections for the shores beyond them. Not to
mention these reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems in
the world, and keep thousands of species of marine creatures
alive. Failure to take action to protect Puerto Rico's coral
reefs now will mean unprecedented damage when inevitable
future hurricane disasters occur. <STRONG>Losing these reefs
will result in a massive loss of animal, plant, and human
life, too.</STRONG> <A
href="https://www.care2.com/go/z/e/A6x_l/zWC4/b04p6"><FONT

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency take action to protect
