<DIV>Following our successful first letter on ten points for the EU sustainable
finance taxonomy, we are asking for your support again by signing another <A

</A>on a crucial part of the taxonomy process.<BR clear=all>

<DIV><U>What's happening?</U></DIV>
<DIV><U><BR></U></DIV>
<DIV><B>Tomorrow, 23rd of October, is the first day of negotiations amongst the
European Commission, European Parliament, and European Council on the EU
Taxonomy legal text</B>. These negotiations always happen before any EU proposal
becomes EU law. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>They are crucial because, after this phase, the legal text can no longer be
changed. <B>This really is our last chance to make a serious impact on the
rules governing the EU taxonomy</B>. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><U>What's the problem?</U></DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>As you can imagine, <B>hundreds of lobbyists for banks, insurers,
gas, nuclear, bioenergy, farming etc are also jumping at this last chance to
influence the taxonomy</B>. They're having some big successes: you may have
heard, for example, that France and others have made sure the EU Council stated
it was <A
href="https://www.euractiv.com/section/energy-environment/news/council-maintains-nuclear-as-eligible-for-green-finance/"
target=_blank>in favour of nuclear power</A>.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><B>We need to react and support our own 'champions'</B>. This means making
sure the Parliament team, which is being led by a Green MEP, as well as the more
progressive EU countries, have all the support they can get.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>We have therefore written a <B>short <A
href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/126vyz772nHQ-uzJd_I_qyKReLX9RHbc_z-qvH6LISuQ/edit"
target=_blank>letter</A> with five key points</B>: strong disclosure
requirements, quick timeline, strong social safeguards, scientific criteria, a
taxonomy of unsustainable activities. <B>We plan to send it to EU finance
ministers, Members of the European Parliament, and EU Commissioners</B>.</DIV>

<DIV><U>What can I do?</U></DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>1. We ask that you <B>read this <A
