Climate Action and Energy Commissioner will be announced any day now</STRONG>.
We need to be ready to fight tooth and nail to ensure no climate skeptics or oil
industry buddies get the job. Instead, we need to <STRONG>make sure bold action
against climate change is taken</STRONG>.</BIG></P>

<P><BIG>Europe’s progress on climate change has been held back before by the
election of less than desirable leaders. <STRONG>In 2014, a Spanish oil baron,
Arias </STRONG><STRONG>Cañete</STRONG><STRONG> was appointed as the EU
Commissioner for Climate and Energy.</STRONG></BIG></P>
<P><BIG>Before this, Cañete had greenlighted drilling for oil in the clean,
beautiful waters of the Canary Islands. As Commissioner, he rolled out the red
carpet for dirty fossil fuel industries, in his first months in office meeting
with them 7 times more than with public interest groups. [2]</BIG></P>
<P><BIG><STRONG>This time round, we should not repeat the same story</STRONG>.
It’s vital someone truly committed to tackling climate change gets the job.
Otherwise, we can say goodbye to our biodiversity and nature.<STRONG> Can you
