                        Trump and his Department of Justice (DOJ) have announced that they are trying to find excuses to revoke citizenship from people who went through the naturalization process to become Americans.

                        Right now, around 25 million people are naturalized U.S. citizens. That's larger than the entire population of New York State. And now, this whole community will be under a microscope. 

                        The DOJ's new memo demands that government attorneys prioritize finding naturalized citizens to go after, based on loose and vague criteria that can include their current political views. Under this new policy, those targeted might not even be able to have an attorney to help them fight this!

                        Trump and his cronies are suggesting they may even revoke the citizenship of Zohran Mamdani, the current frontrunner for Mayor of New York City. This is exclusively because Mamdani has been a vocal proponent for human rights overseas, especially in Gaza, and has opposed the use of ICE to terrorize and disappear immigrants. Voicing his political dissent and support for human rights is not illegal. Yet obviously, under the Trump administration, having political views that oppose the administration's is risky.

                        By going after citizenship, Trump is crossing a new and terrifying line in the sand.
