Access the new FAO tool “Prioritization of Irrigation Schemes for Modernization /Rehabilitation” here<https://www.fao.org/land-water/databases-and-software/prism/en/>.<https://www.fao.org/land-water/databases-and-software/prism/en/>

Agriculture is the backbone of economic growth and food security, particularly in developing countries where it drives poverty reduction and resilience.

Aging infrastructure and other system inefficiencies slow progress on irrigation systems. While these outdated and inefficient systems are often unable to meet the demands of modern agricultural practices, their further deterioration leads to significant challenges in ensuring long-term sustainability.

In response to these challenges, the Land and Water Division of FAO has developed PRISM - the Prioritization of Irrigation Schemes for Modernization/Rehabilitation tool. This web-based platform helps decision-makers identify the irrigation systems most in need of modernization and target investments effectively.

With PRISM, users can analyse and target irrigation schemes based on vulnerability, exposure and potential impact by leveraging a comprehensive set of strategic indicators. The platform’s intuitive and user-friendly interface helps to allocate resources efficiently and drive meaningful change.

Discover how PRISM is helping build resilient and sustainable agriculture — one irrigation system at a time!
