Dear Bill,
thank you for your efforts and information!
I am the regional coordinator of the Central Asian Platform on Water and Climate Change (more than 500 experts). I would suggest including water issues in AWS activities, as water is a key but still missing element in the climate agenda. And not only for declarations, but also on a practical level.
A movement based on the simplest but effective technologies with a multi-purpose effect is growing all over the world: 1) restoration of soils and ecosystems; 2) support for the water cycle to maintain climate stability; 3) prevention of floods and droughts (NbS); 4) increase incomes of local communities and a green jobs.

Dear AWS member, Can you believe it, the Alliance of World Scientists (AWS) group is now six years old. We currently have over 27,000 members from 180 countries and we are growing in numbers. Over the course of this last six years, we have done a number of projects including declaring a climate emergency, crowdsourcing funding of the documentary film “The Scientist’s Warning,” publishing the Scientists’ Warning series of 52 journal articles, 1 journal special issue, and 74 more articles in preparation, publishing the annual State of the Climate Report, and most recently, offering the Planet Earth Award to honor the applied work of scientists around the world. We are currently accepting nominations for the Planet Earth Award and proposals for new Scientists’ Warning papers.

Now, I would like to get your ideas on potential specific projects for the Alliance or, more generally, your vision for what the Alliance could be or do in the future. If you have ideas, please send them to me at scientistwarning at oregonstate.edu in a paragraph that is no longer than 125 words by January 10, 2025. Our overall mission is to provide a collective international voice of thousands of scientists regarding the global climate crisis and environmental challenges with the intent to turn accumulated knowledge into action.

Also, we need funding and if you know of any individual philanthropists or groups that would potentially be interested in helping fund the activities of the Alliance, or more perhaps specifically, our annual State of the Climate report, please send their contact information or webpage link to me too.

    Thanks, Bill

PS. Donations of any amount are highly appreciated. Click here to make a year-end tax deductible donation to AWS. It is easy to contribute to AWS from anywhere in the world using credit/debit card, PayPal, Venmo, Amazon Pay, or Cash App Pay.
