The corporation promised to reduce its plastic footprint, but it lied.
Coca-Cola's Plastic Pollution Contributes to Over 1 Million Dead Marine Animals Each Year

In 2022, Coca-Cola vowed to address the global plastic crisis by committing to 25% reusable packaging by 2030. This pledge offered a glimmer of hope in the fight against skyrocketing plastic pollution — a crisis devastating ecosystems, harming wildlife, and even threatening human health.
But now, Coca-Cola has quietly abandoned this commitment, removing all mention of it from its website and shifting its focus to recycling instead of reuse.
But recycling alone cannot solve the problem of single-use plastics. Most "recycled" plastic still ends up in landfills, incinerators, or the environment. There, it poisons waterways, chokes marine life, and contributes to climate change because more fossil fuel extraction is then required to create even more plastic.
Plastic never disappears. It just breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, but it builds up forever. The global plastic crisis has reached catastrophic levels, with microplastics infiltrating our food, water, and even the air we breathe. Plastic pollution kills over 1 million marine animals every year, and its toxic effects ripple through the entire food chain — impacting humans, too.
Coca-Cola is one of the world's worst plastic polluters. Its decision to backtrack on reusable packaging targets is nothing short of a betrayal to the planet and its people.
Reusable packaging is a proven solution that reduces waste right at the source. Sign this petition to demand Coca-Cola reinstate its commitment to 25% reusable packaging by 2030 and take meaningful action to combat plastic pollution.
Thank you,
Celeste
