            Petition
            Uganda: Stop criminalizing pipeline protesters!
            Dear friends of the rainforests,

Authorities in Uganda are cracking down on critics of the fossil
fuel industry: Nine university students were arrested, thrown in jail for
six nights, and are now hanging in legal limbo while their trial dates are
repeatedly postponed.

Their "crime": speaking out against the 1,445-km East African
Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), a massive project that has no place in the 21st
century. The fossil fuel industry should be winding down, not covering
Uganda – including Murchison Falls National Park – with hundreds of new oil
wells.

Please sign our petition and tell the Ugandan public prosecutor
that the international community is watching – and that we stand behind
these courageous young people. TAKE ACTION

                  Thanks for being involved,

                  John Hayduska

              Huge success
Ecuador: Local people triumph over copper mine
The mountain rainforests of northern Ecuador are the scene of
one of the longest resistance campaigns against mining in Latin America. For
the past 25 years, Rainforest Rescue has been supporting the affected
communities. They have now won a spectacular victory in court: The
environmental permits for the planned Llurimagua copper mine have been
annulled – once and for all.

                  SUCCESS
