Amazonia: STOP the CHOP for "green" energy!
            Dear friends of the rainforests,

France is lobbying the EU to build new biomass power plants in French Guiana, a French overseas department in South America. One of the objectives of the proect is to provide cheap power to the European Space Center in Kourou.

The planned source of the biomass? The Amazon rainforest – and when the forest is gone, industrial tree and soybean plantations. This ostensibly green project is wrong on so many levels.

But it's not too late. Please support our joint petition with local NGO Maïouri Nature Guyane. Tell the French government and the EU to call off this potentially disastrous project – for the sake of the climate, biodiversity and the lives of local communities.

                  TAKE ACTION
                  Thanks for being involved,

                  John Hayduska

Sumatra: rangers injured by tiger in Leuser Ecosystem
Protecting the forests on the Indonesian island of Sumatra as a ranger is not a job for the faint-hearted: In late January, a team of four rangers supported by Rainforest Rescue was attacked by a tiger.
