Welcome to Land Rights Now
In 2016, a coalition of human rights
organizations set forth a shared vision: to take action in solidarity with
Indigenous and local communities struggling to secure land rights
everywhere. The Land Rights Now campaign emerged from that call to action.
During the past six years, hundreds of organizations and supporters joined
our movement and showed their commitment and solidarity with land and
environmental defenders all over the world.
In 2022, Land Rights Now worked with
Indigenous and local communities to fight land grabbing, the climate crisis,
and the criminalization of environmental defenders. We forged new
partnerships, gave visibility to land insecurity, and brought our campaign
to global forums in pursuit of stronger protections for Indigenous and
collectively managed lands.
As we look to the year ahead, Land
Rights Now is thrilled to announce the launch of our monthly newsletter. We
believe that a newsletter will allow us to better connect with all of you
and invite new interest in this pressing issue. Read on to learn about our
efforts in 2022 and how your support made a difference! We hope you will
continue to stand with us to #DefendtheDefenders during the coming year.
