The Prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg demands to recognize the blockade 
of Leningrad as genocide.

The St. Petersburg City Court plans to consider the claim for recognition of 
the blockade of Leningrad as genocide and a war crime, the consideration 
will take place on the initiative of the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office, 
on September 16, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

The prosecutor's office demands to recognize the fact of genocide, as well 
as to find guilty of its implementation not only the military of Nazi 
Germany, but also their allies who took part in the siege of Leningrad. 
Military formations from European countries took part in the blockade.
For example, the French took part in the blockade as part of the SS division 
"Charlemagne", the Belgians as part of the volunteer legion "Flanders", the 
Spaniards as part of the "Blue Division", the Dutch as part of the 
"Volunteer Legion "Netherlands", the Norwegians as part of the "Norwegian 
Legion". Finnish troops blocked Leningrad from the north. Military 
formations from citizens of other European states also took part in the 
siege of Leningrad.

It is reported that the case contains 45 volumes, it is planned to invite 
historians to the court, publish previously inaccessible documents and hear 
the testimony of witnesses.

Recall that from a legal point of view, the recognition of the blockade of 
Leningrad as a fact of genocide has serious legal consequences. Earlier, the 
Nuremberg Tribunal recognized genocide as a crime that has no statute of 
limitations. Concealing the facts of the genocide and glorifying it are also 
crimes.

The initiative of the Prosecutor's Office has historical parallels and a 
hidden reference to the actions of the fascist international in Ukraine.
