We’ve just returned from the United Nations Climate talks in Egypt known as COP27, where we were pushing for the ocean's rights to be recognised. Read on to find out more about our involvement at these crucial negotiations and to check out our new short film about how a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights could help protect the seas.

The ocean is an unsung hero in the fight against the climate crisis, locking away carbon dioxide and excess heat that has been created as a result of greenhouse gas emissions. We hosted three events at COP27, the United Nations climate summit in Egypt where governments agree steps to limit
global temperature rises, to highlight the damage that is being done to the ocean, the crucial role it plays in the health of our planet and how recognising the ocean's rights could help to protect it. We were also proud to be part of COP’s first Ocean Pavilion. Find out more here.

We need governments to drive urgent climate action, but we can also help make a difference by doing our part and keeping our individual emissions as low as possible. Opting for a renewable energy provider and travelling by public transport, bicycle or on foot rather than car is a good start.
You could also support carbon offset schemes and invest in
environmental projects around the world in order to balance out your own carbon footprint. 'Blue carbon’ projects not only capture greenhouse gasses, but help to restore ocean health and provide a habitat for marine life. Suggest that your company or organisation also does this to compensate for flights and other major carbon generating activities.
