                        EU should initiate the process of accession of Ukraine in the EU


                 UN Human Rights Council - Russia: Resolution to investigate violations in Ukraine adopted 

                        A resolution in favour of an international commission of enquiry into violations of human rights and humanitarian law in Ukraine following the Russian invasion was adopted by an overwhelming majority. The resolution was passed with 32 votes in favour, 2 against (Russia and Eritrea) and 13 abstentions, including those of Venezuela, Cuba, China, India and Pakistan. This is the first time that the UN Council has adopted a resolution directly concerning Russia.

                 Council of Europe suspends Russia's representation rights

                        In accordance with the Statute of the Council of Europe, the Committee of Ministers decided on 25 February to suspend, with immediate effect, the Russian Federation's rights of representation in the Committee of Ministers and the Parliamentary Assembly following the armed attack on Ukraine.

                 Ukraine: UN launches $1.7 billion appeal to help exodus of refugees and host countries

                        An estimated $1.1 billion is needed for the response inside Ukraine for three months to help six million of the most vulnerable people in Ukraine, as the escalation of the conflict has triggered an immediate and sharp increase in demand for life-saving aid.

                 EU Council: EUR 500 million in support package for Ukrainian armed forces

                        The assistance measures, worth a total of EUR 500 000 000, will finance the provision of equipment and supplies to the Ukrainian armed forces, including - for the first time - lethal equipment.                  Syria: The use of chemical weapons is a stain on the conscience of the international community

                        At the UN Security Council meeting on Syria, High Representative Izumi Nakamitsu said that "Any use of chemical weapons is unacceptable and the lack of accountability for past use of such weapons remains a stain on the conscience of the international community."
