"We Russian citizens stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and do not want this war. A drawn-out and full-blown military conflict in Ukraine is a catastrophe for both nations, our economies, and the generations to come.
We call on you to preserve our peace. Our international mechanisms and formats are failing to prevent a conflict that is irreparably destroying the lives of countless Ukrainians, Russians, and citizens across the globe. Hear our citizens across Russia: we do not want this war. Let us come together to put an end to it."

Our community will fight for every chance to save human lives and stop the war. Politicians have presented the situation as if most people in both countries were ready for war and are willing to solve the conflict by force. This is not true – and we have proof.
At Avaaz, we turned to our true superpower – our members – and asked people in both countries what they thought about the conflict. The opinion poll organized by Avaaz gave astonishing results. We were surprised at how united our members in both countries are in their opinions about the crisis – and impressed by their strong willingness to resolve the conflict peacefully. And now protesters all over Russia are corroborating this message too, but being brutally suppressed.
We need to have the truth heard. Tell our leaders that Russians do not want to give up on a peaceful solution - we need negotiations, not violence. Add your name!

As a global movement, we have stood up many times against violent conflicts from Burma to Syria or Yemen. When regular channels of diplomacy have failed and when established international mechanisms – from Normandy format to OSCE – are unable to propose a viable solution, the world needs the strength of our multi-million community: we should use every single chance, be creative and act quickly to save people from bloodshed and misery. It is not too late to stop the war.
