Have you ever dreamed of driving an electric car? Well, if you live in Texas, it will soon be easier than ever for that dream to become a reality. The Lone Star State plans to place charging stations for electric cars every 50 miles on most interstates, with the goal of supporting one million electric vehicles! This is a massive victory for curbing greenhouse gas emissions. The Texas Department of Transportation's five-year plan is bold, and demonstrates a commitment to climate action: to create a broad network of chargers throughout the state, making it easier for people in electric vehicles to drive on most routes, even in rural areas.
While Texas is a big carbon culprit, California, Washington, and Hawaii also have some of the highest transportation emissions of all states in the country. It is time that the country's biggest gas-guzzlers step up so that more people can use electric car alternatives! If Texas can do it -- a southern state notoriously slow to acknowledge climate impacts and mitigate them -- there is no excuse for any other state's government not to!
Sign now to demand California, Washington, and Hawaii's Departments of Transportation invest in similar efforts to dramatically increase the number of electric charging stations in their state!
Thank you,
Lauren
