Applications for the 2022 Whitley Awards are open!
Do you know a wildlife conservationist who is:
· Leading a grassroots conservation project in the Global South
· Partnering with communities to inspire action
· Seeking to scale up science-led solutions
· Delivering impactful work for which funding and international
recognition could be game-changing
Applications are open until 31 October 2021!
What is a Whitley Award?
Whitley Awards are our flagship prizes. They support mid-career
conservationists championing grassroots action that benefits people,
wildlife and the climate.
These coveted prizes are won competitively following assessment by an
expert judging panel and are presented by our Patron, HRH The Princess
Royal, at an annual ceremony, which we hope to hold in London in spring
2022.
What do Whitley Award winners receive?
· £40,000 project funding over one year
· Media spotlight
· Training and career development support
· Membership of a peer network with more than 200 alumni across 80
countries
· Eligibility for Continuation Funding and the Whitley Gold Award
Find out what impact winning a Whitley Award can have, by watching our
winner testimonials film.
WFN's first alumni network training week: delivered!
Last week we ran free online training for Whitley Award alumni and
their teams, based on needs identified by alumni themselves including:
· Project planning, monitoring and evaluation with WildTeam
· Using evidence to inform conservation practice with Conservation
Evidence
· Managing risk with The TRIP Group
· Legal support with the Thomson Reuters Foundation
· Applying for funding with WFN and the Rufford Foundation, People's
Trust for Endangered Species, Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund,
Conservation Leadership Programme, and ZSL's EDGE Programme
· Optimising networking with WildHub
· Engaging audiences with Conservation Optimism
It has been a proud moment, collaborating with inspiring partners
across the sector to bolster Whitley Award winners' work and build capacity
for conservation. Thank you to everyone involved as well as the Evolution
Education Trust, whose support made the week possible.
