Coal baron Gautam Adani’s reputation is in ruins –
and he wants to use the UN climate conference to clean it up.
But we can get him booted off the program. Tell UK
Prime Minister Boris Johnson not to give mining giant Adani a platform!

We’ve received a tip that coal baron Gautam Adani is trying to
elbow his way in and secure a primetime speaking spot at the upcoming UN
climate summit.
The COP summit is a place for world leaders, experts and
representatives from the frontlines of the climate crisis to come together
and work on solutions. The people who should be centre stage are those
fighting for climate justice -- not a billionaire businessman who wants to
open up one of the biggest new coal mines in the world.
As host of the summit, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has
final say on who gets a speaking spot. Adani is throwing his weight around,
but if enough of us turn up the pressure on Johnson we can get him booted
off the program.
will you add your name and tell Boris Johnson that the COP
summit should be for climate solutions, not corporate greenwash?
Our source tells us that Adani has already talked his way onto
the speakers list at the Global Investment Summit in the UK next week, a
summit meant to encourage renewable energy investments.
If Adani gets his way, he’ll have two opportunities to have the
undivided attention of investors and world leaders where he can greenwash
his corporation and distract everyone from the billions he’s pouring into
fossil fuel projects.
It’s no wonder he’s going on a reputation rehab tour. Because
Adani’s track record is terrible:
a.. The Adani Group was responsible for a coal ship sinking
off the coast of Mumbai that devastated beaches, marine life and the
livelihoods of locals working in tourism.
b.. Adani’s Godda coal power station in India will displace
thousands of Indigenous Adivasi people, and has already resulted in
villages, crops and burial sites being destroyed.
c.. The Adani Group has given millions to a Myanmar
military-controlled corporation accused of human rights violations.
d.. And most notoriously of all, the Adani Group is trying to
build one of the biggest new coal mines in the world. The Carmichael mine in
northern Australia does not have the consent of the Wangan and Jagalingou
Cultural Custodians and would send coal-laden ships right through the Great
Barrier Reef.
The UK Government should be giving speaking platforms to people
like the Pacific Climate Warriors who are travelling to the UK to stand up
against the fossil fuel industry.
We cannot let billionaire businessman Adani get away with using
his wealth and status to cosy up to Boris Johnson. Add your name to the
petition!
Adani was meant to start shipping coal from the Carmichael mine
years ago. But the coal mine still isn’t operational because of the Wangan
and Jagalingou people, the Adivasi people, and thousands of SumOfUs members
like you, standing up to the mining giant and convincing over 100 companies
not to invest in or work with Adani.
So now Adani is desperately scrambling for platforms to
greenwash his business to try and fix his crumbling reputation.
But not if tens of thousands of SumOfUs members like you speak
up and expose Adani’s unscrupulous scheming to charm Prime Minister Johnson,
and force the UK Government to ban the coal baron from the investor and
climate summits.
