Virginia just outlawed the sale of cosmetics tested on animals,
but 46 other states still allow it!

Amazing news for animal lovers: Virginia recently passed a
law that bans the sale of any cosmetics that have been recently tested on
animals! But shockingly, it is only the fourth state to do so, behind
Illinois, California, and Nevada. That means 46 states and Washington D.C.
still support animal testing for cosmetics, which is cruel and inhumane, not
to mention wholly unnecessary. We now have plenty of alternative ways to
test cosmetics' safety that don't involve injecting animals with potentially
toxic materials, putting those materials in their eyes and on their skin,
forcing poisons down their throats, and countless other cruelties.
Bunnies, guinea pigs, mice, and even dogs, all popularly
used for testing in the cosmetics industry, live their entire lives in
cramped cages. Without proper socialization, nurturing, or exercise, their
lives are total misery. Their bodies are used like disposable props, burned
and poisoned to test the limits of the chemicals used in our makeup,
shampoos, and lotions. Between the wide breadth of chemicals already tested
and approved, and technologies that allow us to test new ones in humane
ways, there is absolutely no reason this should still be going on. We must
put the pressure on companies at the national level — prioritize animal
welfare, or go out of business. Will you sign the petition asking for
federal legislation to ban the sale of cosmetics tested on animals in the
U.S.?
Thank you,
Lauren

P.S. Between the wide array of already tested and approved
materials, and new testing methods that don't involve animals, there is no
reason the cosmetics industry should be torturing defenseless creatures.
Sign the petition for a federal ban.
