            Overturn racist GOP voter suppression policies — pass the For The People Act!

                 In a democracy, one of the most important rights that every citizen has is the right — not just a privilege — to vote and select their elected representatives. Yet voter suppression is on the rise all across the United States, largely following the incredible increase in voter participation during the most recent presidential election. Lawmakers in more than half of U.S. states have introduced legislation to cut into voter turnout, trying to control future elections and prevent popular involvement. This is fundamentally anti-democratic and must not be allowed. 

                  The GOP is leading this anti-voter charge and, no surprise, they're targeting mostly Democratic-leaning constituents, specifically communities of color, students, the elderly, and low-income folks. Republicans are trying to justify this assault on voting access by promoting debunked falsehoods about fraud — lies that experts and multiple U.S. courts have disproven time and again. That's why it's so important for Congress to pass federal legislation to increase election accessibility, transparency, and security. The For The People Act would do just that. 

                  The For The People Act would create a national voter registration program, make Election Day a national holiday, and fix gerrymandering and voter roll purges. It includes campaign finance reform, limits foreign lobbying, and requires secretive "superPACS" to disclose their donors. It even includes support for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. It's already passed the U.S. House of Representatives; now we just need Senators to stand up and do their jobs. Voting belongs in the hands of the people. The GOP must not be allowed to strip this sacred right away. Sign the petition to demand that the U.S. Senate protect voter rights by passing the For The People Act!
