      Today we're on the ground in front of the German Chancellor to demand 
Germany stops blocking open access to COVID-19 vaccines. And with you, we 
can make it impossible for Merkel to ignore — by spreading our video to

Hi,

Over 2.7 million people, including you, are demanding something very 
simple — action to protect everyone, everywhere, from the COVID-19 pandemic.

And it’s working. Together we moved French President Emmanuel Macron and US 
President Joe Biden to support opening access to vaccines.

But Angela Merkel still won’t budge. As she returns to Berlin this week 
after her trip to the US, where she faced dozens of protests organised by 
our partners, she may think she will finally get a break. But we have 
something else in store before key global meetings start at the World Trade 
Organisation.

Today we're on the ground in front of the German Chancellor. We’ll be 
working to pull off a stunt that will grab the attention of the media. And 
together, we can make it impossible for Merkel to ignore by spreading the 
word online as well.

German embassies’ job is to inform their government of what's happening. If 
we all send messages to them from across Europe, they’ll have to forward our 
call to Merkel. Our message will be clear: continuing to block open access 
to vaccines could ruin Merkel’s reputation.

The pharmaceutical industry's egoism and Merkel's continued opposition 
creates a worldwide inequity between the rich and the poor — this is real 
vaccine apartheid. Almost two out of three Germans have received their first 
vaccine dose already, while 99% of the population in developing countries 
haven’t. [1]

This is unfair and puts all of us at risk. As a result, the Delta variant is 
ravaging unvaccinated populations around the globe and the emergence of a 
new vaccine-resistant variant is increasingly likely. [2]

That’s why today we come together to demand Merkel stops this. German 
ambassadors care about the reputations of Merkel and Germany. Now it's up to 
us to share it with them and spread it widely!
