I just watched a video of dozens of desperate people clinging to
the outside of a massive US airplane while it took off, only for some to
fall to their death on the rooftops below. All to escape the Taliban.
But I know we have to do something to help.
Experts in the region say that a few charities are actually
getting desperate families money, safe transport and legal help with asylum
claims. But they're not the big names everyone knows and lots of NGOs are
too scared to support them.
Our community is different. Thousands of donations right now
from us could go directly to the on-the-ground groups funnelling real
assistance in the middle of this tragedy -- and we don't have to wait for
paperwork or approvals to do it. If we all chip in now -- we could save
lives:

Politicians can debate who is at fault for the disaster of
Afghanistan until they are blue in the face.
But in the meantime, thousands of desperate people are trying to
escape the Taliban -- many of whom worked for the US, UK, Canadian, and
other governments in Afghanistan, at great risk to themselves and their
family, hoping to make their country a better, safer place.
Now governments are scrambling to evacuate their own personnel,
while many potential refugees are left desperately flooding the Kabul
airport and rushing into planes. A few charities are helping these people,
including helping to ensure that the lucky few who make it have everything
they need when they land in their new foreign homes.
This is the kind of news that can make us feel impotent. But if
enough of us pull together now, we can give some hope to the people who need
it most -- chip in what you can, everything will go to groups working with
those in need:
