*[Enwl-eng] Republicans want to imprison people who speak up and protest

            Corrupt politicians are afraid we'll speak out against assaults 
on democracy. Stand against fascist attacks on First Amendment rights to 
protest!

                  Republican lawmakers in the U.S. are considering 
implementing — and are already actively passing — a slew of anti-free speech 
laws all across the country. Terrified by citizens rising up to protest 
police brutality against Black Americans and anti-democratic laws that strip 
voting rights from working class folks and people of color, GOP leaders have 
moved into militaristic mode. In Minnesota, Republicans want to punish 
demonstrators by revoking their ability to access state assistance to which 
they are fully entitled, including student loans, food stamps, unemployment 
insurance, and healthcare.

                  In Florida, the Republican governor just signed a new law 
that will increase criminalization against peaceful protests to felony 
level, adding possible jail time. Proponents say these laws will only apply 
to "violent rioters," but evidence shows that's just not true. Historical 
and contemporary records show these types of laws are aimed at targeting one 
specific group of folks: people of color. Because an armed mob of white 
people storming the Capitol is supposedly non-threatening. Sign the petition 
to demand that U.S. state governors oppose any legislation restricting or 
criminalizing the people's First Amendment rights to free speech and 
assembly!

restricting voting rights, now they want to restrict protest rights as well. 
Demand that state governors protect free speech and block any heightened 
punishment of protests!
