UN chief renews call for nuclear disarmament

                                The possibility of nuclear catastrophe
continues to overshadow the world as countries prioritize competition over
cooperation, said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in an
address marking International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear
Weapons on Saturday. "The use of nuclear weapons would affect all states,
meaning that all states have a responsibility to ensure that such deadly
armaments are never used again and are eliminated completely from national
arsenals," Guterres said.Full Story: Associated Press of Pakistan (9/27)

The coronavirus death toll could reach two
million in the coming months if countries around the world don't take

The Beijing Declaration and Platform for
Action on gender equality and women's rights remains as significant today as
it was 25 years ago, says United Nations Undersecretary-General Phumzile
Mlambo-Ngcuka. Countries around the world have demonstrated that progress
can be made, but governments must support women's leadership, use technology
to promote equality, empower marginalized women and ensure there are
resources in place to match commitments, Mlambo-Ngcuka says.Full Story:
