BREAKING: The European Commission just called
Austria's glyphosate ban "illegal". We’ve got one last chance to get this
toxic poison banned -- but first we have to convince Austria's government.

influential newspaper?

The European Commission just dropped a bombshell: it said
Austria’s ban of glyphosate would be “illegal”.
Austria was *so close* to banning glyphosate -- until
Bayer-Monsanto got wind of the plan. And then Bayer's army of lobbyists got
to work.
We’ve found a legal loophole that would still allow Austria to
ban glyphosate -- but we’ve got to be quick.
The Austrian government is under immense pressure from
Monsanto -- they will only act if we drown out the voices from the
lobbyists.
That’s why we’re planning to place an ad in Austria’s most
influential newspaper next week to publish our new poll that shows that 84%
of Austrians are sick of glyphosate and support a ban this year.

Luxembourg banned glyphosate this year, and offers financial
support to help farmers make the switch to safer, environmentally friendly
agriculture. So there’s a way for Austria to still go glyphosate-free in
2020, if only there’s the political will.
Bayer-Monsanto's favourite pesticide, glyphosate, was almost
completely banned in Austria last year. Thousands of SumOfUs members like
you helped make that happen, despite Monsanto’s suffocating influence in
politics.
Every political party -- except the chancellor’s conservative
ÖVP -- supports a ban. We CAN win this. But to make sure the chancellor
doesn’t quietly quit banning glyphosate, we need to make his choice visible
to as many Austrians as possible.
Next month people living in Vienna will go to the polls for the
capital’s municipal and district elections. I can’t imagine ÖVP candidates
will want to explain why Luxembourg can go glyphosate-free, but the Austrian
government supposedly can’t.

From Austria to California, you’ve led the charge to stop toxic
glyphosate. You’re wiping it out of our fields, grocery stores, and off our
plates.
SumOfUs members like you funded professional polling we
commissioned earlier this year, that shows 4 out of 5 Austrians want
glyphosate banned this year. Let’s remind Austria’s chancellor of that fact,
and that if Luxembourg can ban glyphosate, then so can he.
Thanks for all that you do,
Clemens, Eoin, Anne and the team at SumOfUs
