WHO issues warning as virus cases climb in
EU, Africa

Officials from the World Health Organization
are urging people in Africa and Europe to remain vigilant in fighting the
coronavirus as cases climb in both places. Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO regional
director for Europe, this week welcomed news of multiple positive vaccine
trial results, but noted that equitable distribution of a vaccine around the
world is needed to end the pandemic.Full Story: BBC (free registration)

IAEA, Iran confirm use of nuclear
centrifuges

                                Iran has begun operating 174
uranium-enrichment centrifuges installed in an underground nuclear plant in
violation of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, but has not
significantly increased its ability to enrich uranium, International Atomic
Energy Agency Director-General Rafael Grossi said this week. The Iranian
ambassador to the IAEA has confirmed the report.Full Story: The Guardian

                                Pandemic-related disruptions to education,
mental health services and health care around the world are harming
children, who also account for one of every nine coronavirus patients
globally, according to a UNICEF report. "The longer the crisis persists, the
deeper its impact on children's education, health, nutrition and
well-being," UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore warns.Full Story: The

recommit to global climate agreements offer hope for the global community

Agencies seek Tigray cease-fire amid growing
crisis

More than 30,000 people have fled violence
in Ethiopia's Tigray region across the border into Sudan -- a number that
could climb to 200,000 in the coming months -- and communications and access
restrictions in the region are hampering humanitarian aid access, United
Nations officials say. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees is appealing
for a cease-fire so aid can be delivered, while other UN agencies have
launched a $200 million appeal to fund shelter, food and care for refugees
fleeing into Sudan.Full Story: Reuters (11/20), The Associated Press
