Tens of young people are sneaking into a high-level meeting of European ministers to demand an ambitious action to end the climate emergency. The difference between being heard and listened to could be down to us. Let’s echo their message!
SEND A MESSAGE TO TOMISLAV ĆORIĆ NOW
Hi,
Elena needs you right now. [1]
Europe’s Environment ministers are in for a big surprise this morning. They think they’ll be alone, discussing how to keep kicking the can down the climate road, behind closed doors in the Council ‘castle’. But Elena, and more than 60 other young people have come all the way from different countries to sneak into this meeting, to look ministers in the eye and demand a safer future.
Their voices will be heard. But the difference between being heard and listened to could be down to us. If thousands of us strengthen their message ‘live’, ministers will realise they are not ‘just’ a ‘bunch of kids’ but thousands talking to them.
Could you dedicate 2 minutes to send a Tweet or a Facebook message to Tomislav Ćorić, the chair of the meeting, NOW? Later will be too late - the action is happening this very morning.

Sleeping bag and rucksack packed, Elena has travelled in excitement from Romania to the EU’s capital. There are dozens like her from Poland, Germany, Czechia, and all over Europe, ready for action. They are far from home, but right in the heart of where decisions are made. The prospect of speaking to their ministers is nerve-wrecking - but they’ll do so in their own language and in their own words.
A third of the international activists are there today thanks to our support. Without WeMove Europe’s community, Central and Eastern people, whose governments hamper progress in the EU’s climate policy, wouldn’t be represented in today’s action.
Youth are doing their part on the ground. It’s up to us to ensure their message is echoed a thousand times in social media so that leaders know we are supporting them from every corner of Europe!

Ministers have just released a fancy video where they acknowledge we must reduce CO2 emissions: but how far are they ready to go? [2] How much of the acclaimed Green Deal will remain on paper and how much will become reality?
We can’t afford to leave it to politicians to decide whether climate chaos is a priority for their careers’ agendas. We must make them feel the heat - every day. Tweet or post a Facebook message now to the chair of the meeting, Tomislav Ćorić, and send your solidarity to those on the ground!
In solidarity,
David, Virginia (Madrid), and the entire WeMove Europe team
PS. Greta Thunberg will be there too. She has already met members of the European Parliament and the College of Commissioners. EU ministers won’t look great if they refuse to welcome her, Elena and the rest of youth in the Council building. So we know they’ll be heard - but will they be listened to? Possibly only if our minister knows there are thousands of Europeans, their electorate, behind the demands of Elena and the youth. Take action to back them up!
