The EPA is risking people getting cancer, babies born with birth defects, and stunted brain development in children

Vladimir,
Before filling up that kiddy pool for kids and animals to cool off in, or watering that garden you worked so hard to grow, you may want to think again — the EPA and Trump want to protect their buddies in the coal industry, which might mean that toxic sewage is coming through our pipes. If the agency succeeds in overturning certain Obama-era regulations, coal plants can dump more noxious waste into rivers and oceans, and won't even be required to track how it affects the groundwater nearby — the groundwater that becomes our drinking water. Exposure to these toxic materials can lead to cancer, birth defects, and a whole host of other health issues.
Over 90% of plants using coal power have detected dangerously high levels of toxic metals in surrounding groundwater, and that’s with these regulations already in place! Plus, those who live within three miles of plants using coal power are most often low-income households or people of color. While these already marginalized groups will suffer greatly, Andrew Wheeler, the EPA's administrator, proudly boasted that coal utility companies would save between $28 and $31 million a year. Use your voice and tell him that just won't fly. Sign the petition to demand that our water supply remain protected instead of the pockets of the coal industry!
Thank you,
Lauren W.

P.S. The EPA doesn't care if Americans are poisoned just as long as the coal industry keeps making millions. Sign the petition today.
