Hi,

Thank you! We did it again! Together we managed to convince enough Members
of the European Parliament (MEPs) to stop plans to recycle lead-contaminated
PVC in Europe. Thanks to this vote, toxic lead-contaminated PVC won’t be
recycled and sold in Europe.

Over 25,000 of us sent tweets and emails to our MEPs, calling on them to
stand up for our health and environment, and not to let toxic products
continue to circulate in Europe. It is clear that we caught their attention
and that our action worked. One French MEP reported receiving over 3,000
messages from her constituents, who are part of our community!

This vote was about more than just a technical detail. This was about
people's health, our environment, and about us - Europeans - standing up and
exercising our democratic right. The decision-makers heard us. As the vote
count came in, MEPs that kick-started this effort to stop the Commission’s
plan proudly tweeted the final tally:

An MEP celebrates the victory

The vote in the EU Parliament was very close, we only won by 41 votes. [1]
Many MEPs wouldn’t even have been aware of the full story behind this vote
had we not contacted them. Some of them emailed us back - to agree with us,
disagree with us or ask us when the vote would happen because they didn’t
see it in the agenda!

One MEP, Martin Hojsik, who tweeted the results of the vote above, sent us a
message saying: “Your voice helped us to prevent pollution from recycled
toxic lead. Pressure from active citizens needs to keep the corporate lobby
in check and this time you did it. Thank you WeMove members!” This goes to
show just how pivotal the actions we take together can really be.

To be successful we need to be nimble, we need to be prepared and we need
your support. Please donate what you can afford to keep us strong! Every
euro is welcome.

This vote is one more example of how we can push Europe towards a safer,
toxic-free circular economy and protect the health and environment of future
generations at the same time.

In solidarity,

David and the entire WeMove Europe team
