WHO: International spread of coronavirus could accelerate
The number of coronavirus cases detected so far outside of China could indicate the disease is more widespread than initially believed, and countries should prepare for the possibility that infection rates will speed up, says World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. A revised version of a United Nations Security Council resolution proposed by Palestine has dropped accusations that a peace plan for the Middle East prepared by the US violates international law, instead asserting that it departs from parameters set out in previous UN resolutions. WHO reports progress against Ebola in DR Congo
Progress is being made against the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where a growing number of people are realizing the gravity of the situation, which allows medical workers to identify and treat cases of the disease earlier, says World Health Organization regional director for Africa Matshidiso Moeti.
