Basic Income Europe. We think it may interest you.

      We have mobilised massively all over Europe in support for the 
European basic income. Our leaders meet tomorrow. We want to give one more 
push ahead of that meeting to make sure they hear our demands.

Hi,

You, Pope Francis, Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez. What do you have in common?

You’ve all called for some form of basic income. The idea of a European 
basic income has gained huge support. Over 160,000 people have signed our 
petition, and hundreds of us have chipped in what we could to make our 
demand more visible. We're now running advertisements on Politico, the EU 
institutions’ most-read newspaper. All this to reach EU leaders.

They meet tomorrow to agree on a common EU response to the coronacrisis, but 
they still haven’t put an emergency basic income on the agenda. We want to 
give one more push ahead of that meeting to make sure they hear us.

With all institutions closed, decision-makers are following social media 
more carefully than ever before -- so that’s where we’re going. Ahead of the 
meeting we will tweet them to make sure they know a European basic income 
needs to be on their agenda.

There’s already growing momentum in many countries showing the EU the 
direction to go. The Spanish government is moving towards a basic income 
scheme, the US has launched a one-off programme similar to basic income, 
France is discussing it, and even the pope is calling for a version of it!

As the economic situation gets worse, the EU needs to respond as quickly as 
possible with bold solutions. We have mobilised behind the idea of a 
European basic income in almost unprecedented numbers. This is a voice 
nobody should ignore. Let’s make sure the leaders hear us!
