Ti facts
When fast-food corporations destroy rainforests, it
doesn't just hurt animals -- it leads to massive fires, displacement and
even the next big global pandemic.
That's why we can't miss this upcoming chance to
finally force KFC and Pizza Hut to take deforestation off their menus.
Please, can you use your power as a Yum! Brands
shareholder to protect forests and people?

If our forests die, so do we. So why are KFC and Pizza Hut still
profiteering from forest destruction?
Animal extinction. Uncontrollable wildfires. Global pandemics as
bad as COVID-19 -- or worse. That's the future that Yum! Brands, the
billionaire multinational that owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, is
choosing by refusing to crack down on deforestation across its supply chain.
But you -- and your pension plan -- could change that today.
We've filed a shareholder proposal for Yum! Brands to be more responsible
and transparent about sourcing palm oil, beef and other key ingredients
linked to rainforest destruction.
A similar proposal got over a third of shareholders' votes last
year. Now, for the sake of humanity and the planet we all depend on, we
urgently need a majority at Yum!'s annual meeting on May 14. Will you use
your shares to force the fast-food giant to act ASAP?
Yes -- I'll write my fund manager now to defend rainforests and
our planet against reckless fast-food greed. Tell your fund manager to
defend the rainforests!
Last year's vote at Yum!'s Kentucky HQ wasn't enough to win, but
we caught execs' attention -- so much that they tried to use all their legal
brass to silence us this year.
But they couldn't stop our people power, and neither can
COVID-19. Even though we can't travel to Kentucky for next month's
shareholder meeting, we'll be there virtually to represent SumOfUs members
and rainforests everywhere.
If the proposal goes through this time, there's nothing Yum! can
do. For the first time ever, this industry laggard will have to take
responsibility and ensure that every drop of palm oil and ounce of beef in
its restaurants is responsibly sourced -- and massive spans of rainforest
and their inhabitants could be spared from destruction.
Please, will you use our online tool to put your shares to work
now?
It's a scary and overwhelming time right now, and the world's
most powerful corporations think they can take advantage of the panic,
confusion and isolation. From Trump relaxing pollution restrictions in the
US to Dow secretly appealing a ban on one of its bee-harming pesticides in
France -- they're hoping to use the pandemic as a distraction to further
their own selfish goals.
But they didn't count on SumOfUs members like you. Just since
the beginning of this year, you forced Pepsi to adopt a stronger palm oil
sourcing policy. At Apple's shareholder meeting in February, you called out
its complicity in the Chinese government's censorship machine and created a
media sensation. And together, you're fighting to stop Amazon and big
pharmaceutical companies from pandemic profiteering.
When people and the planet are at stake, you and the rest of
this amazing community spring into action. And that's what's happening with
Yum! Brands right now. Can I count on your support?
Tell your fund manager to support our proposal and save the
rainforests!
