Today is WeMove's fourth birthday! And tomorrow, 5 September, our board members are traveling to meet in Brussels to make big decisions about the future of our movement. A wave of support from individuals like you could give a confidence boost to our budget for the next year!

      SEND US A BIRTHDAY GIFT

Hi,

Four years ago today, the very first of us in this community signed our first petition. Soon we started campaigns on TTIP, the Volkswagen fraud, and glyphosate. Back then, barely anyone knew what glyphosate was. But, four years later, people across Europe have woken up. Together we’ve shown the EU, our governments, and multinational corporations that we will not be silent in the face of injustice.

Our board members are traveling to meet in Brussels tomorrow to make big decisions about the future of our movement. A wave of support from individuals like you could provide the extra confidence our community needs in our budget for the next year! With unlimited resources, just imagine what kind of progressive change we could make throughout Europe -- but our resources are finite, so every donation, no matter how big or how small, supercharges the impact we can achieve together.

If each of us in this community donates just €4 today, a euro for every year the WeMove community has worked against injustice, we will have the stability and the resources we need to take on the most vital issues in Europe over the next three years. And -- we’ll have the budget to work in more languages, so that we can reach more people and band together for the progressive change Europeans need.

Will you make a €4 donation to power our campaigns for the future of Europe?

We’ve had some big wins -- we shortened glyphosate’s latest license by 10 whole years, and the next application for an EU license will require more transparency of industry studies than ever before. [1] Glyphosate is just one of the important issues we’ve campaigned on over the last four years. But while our community has genuinely moved Europe for the better, we have so much more work to do.

Today, Europe is at a crossroads. New European Commissioners are about to be appointed, and they will chart the course of the EU for the next five years. And in the next five years Europe will face some of the biggest challenges of our time: Bayer/Monsanto will apply for a new license for glyphosate, asylum-seekers fleeing war and persecution will continue to arrive on European shores, all while our climate emergency gets worse by the day.

Despite these challenges, when I think about our campaigning victories, I’m inspired to look toward the future of Europe. I think about the way we’ve won real legislative change, the way we’ve kept both multinational corporations (and the politicians in their pockets) on their toes, and our plans to see long-term campaigns through to the very end. Europe needs our community to fight for the things that matter most to us all.

Our successes (on glyphosate, whistleblower protections, single-use plastics and more!) over the last four years are in no small part thanks to you, thanks to this community of action. They are thanks to the petitions you’ve signed, the emails, tweets and Facebook posts you’ve sent to your MEPs, and the money that you’ve donated to our common cause.

Beyond these successes, the community we've built together is connecting our continent and fundamentally changing what democracy means in the EU - through democratic experiments like Citizens’ Assemblies and European Citizens’ Initiatives. Thank you, for fighting for the issues and values that we all hold so dear, and helping to reshape what democracy means to all of us.

Please make a donation to this community today, for our values and for the common struggles that are yet to come.

Thank you for being here with us,

Virginia (Madrid) on behalf of the entire team at WeMove Europe

P.S. It's easy to think that this isn't the right moment to donate, and that many others from our community will make contributions to honour our fourth birthday. But if we all thought like that, then most of the actions we've taken together wouldn't have been possible! So please, donate now to ensure we can keep fighting for a better Europe.

WeMove.EU is a citizens’ movement, campaigning for a better Europe; for a European Union committed to social and economic justice, environmental sustainability and citizen-led democracy. We are people from all walks of life, who call Europe our home whether we were born in Europe or elsewhere.
