*[Enwl-eng] [can-eecca] [ACTION] Signing on the Lofoten Declaration calling advanced economies to phase out fossil fuel production

Dear All,

I am writing to you on behalf of the signatories of the Lofoten Declaration who, with the support of the Global Gas and Oil Network (GGON), are relaunching the Declaration in the lead-up to COP25.  

We invite your organisations to consider signing on the Lofoten Declaration. The Declaration calls advanced economies considering themselves to be climate leaders to phase out oil, gas and coal production in addition to the plans of restricting their consumption. Such countries as China, Costa Rica, France, New Zealand, Spain and some others have already taken action on restricting fossil fuel supply (see page 5 here), but much more action is needed.

Our goal is to announce 1000 signatories of the Lofoten Declaration at COP 25 to ensure that world leaders recognise the importance of phasing out fossil fuels and to hear the demand for this bold leadership around the world.

We are just over halfway to our goal of 1000 signatories and it would be an immense help if your organisations joins, and you spread the word further. We are looking to reach out to climate and environment-related NGOs, organisations campaigning for human rights, as well as businesses, faith groups and many others.
