Welcome to consumer movement SumOfUs! Could you do us a quick favour and reply to this message, just to say "Hi"? Sending us that simple word once will let your email provider know that we're welcome in your inbox.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Doesn’t it seem like every turn you make, big business is making more and more money at the expense of you and me?

While we’re paying taxes, big corporations wiggle out of paying their fair share. Or they’re destroying our environment so they can make record profits.

Sadly, it’s a long list – and instead of being held accountable, CEOs are getting richer by the second, while the rest of us hope to make it to our next paycheque!

The world doesn’t have to be this way.

Because we have a secret: We own the corporations that are causing all these problems. They rely on us to buy their products. They count on us to buy their stock. They need us to work for them.

Without us, these massive corporations have no power.

That’s where we – SumOfUs – come in. By taking action this week, you have joined a community of millions people from around the world. People who have chosen to work together to demand that corporations put people over profits.

SumOfUs members stand for governments that answer to citizens – not corporations. We stand for the fair treatment for workers. And we stand for the right of consumers to buy products that are produced and marketed ethically, sustainable and transparently.

We fight tirelessly for business models that put people and the planet first, instead of being driven by short-sighted greed. So that communities have the right to manage and protect their own environment and natural resources.

And we’re making a difference! Here are some of the things we’ve done:

a.. We got major American retailer Lowe's to phase out the sale of bee-killing pesticides.
              b.. We helped workers in Chicago buy their factory when it was about to be sold off for scrap;
c.. We got McDonald's and KFC to commit to deforestation-free palm oil.
d.. And we helped prevent a law in Australia that would have put big tech companies like Uber and Amazon above the law.
If you’re fed up with the power corporations have over our lives too, and want to do something about it, you’ve found the right home. We’re creating a massive people-powered movement that holds corporations accountable for their actions.

Could you please take a moment to select "Always display images from SumOfUs.org" at the top of this email. We’ll be in touch each week with something you can do to stand up for people over profit. Together we’ll build campaigns and pressure major corporations – and win real victories that improve real people’s lives.

Many of our members also support us with a regular monthly donation. We don't accept any money from governments or corporations – donations from our members mean we're able to keep winning the battles that matter to all of us.

You can make a monthly donation here.

Or click here to make a single-gift donation.

We are SumOfUs, and together, we can build a just world for all.

Hannah and the rest of the team

Thanks for all that you do,
