                              41st Congress of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty (NRPTT) will be held in Rome from 5 to 7 July 2019 at Auditorium Antonianum (viale Manzoni 1) beginning on Friday 5th July at 11 am.


                       Maurizio Bolognetti, Presidency of the Radical Party, has reached the 67th day of the hunger strike for Radio Radicale and Rita Bernardini, Presidency of the Radical Party, has reached the 25th day.

                              About 200 citizens participate in the non-violent initiative with a few days of hunger strike for the life of Radio Radicale. Here the form to join the hunger strike and the complete list.
                             
                       
                       United Nations and world leaders convicted of clear failure regards drug policy, health and human rights. The Radical Party and 329 NGOs call for global leadership to stop the global public health emergency and put an end to serious human rights violations against drug users.
                             
                       
                       Council of Europe´s Information Society Department has published a report on freedom of expression on the eve of World Press Freedom Day maps out the major threats to freedom of expression in Europe in 2018 and the actions that governments should carry out to counter them as a matter of priority.

                       On 29 April, the Council prolonged the restrictive measures in place on Myanmar/Burma for one year, until 30 April 2020. The sanctions regime includes an embargo on arms and equipment that can be used for internal repression, an export ban of dual-use goods for use by the military and border guard police, and export restrictions of equipment for monitoring communications that might be used for internal repression. It also prohibits the provision of military training to and military cooperation with the Myanmar Armed Forces (Tatmadaw).

                       An assessment published by United Nations food security assessment in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (also known as North Korea) has found that following the worst harvest in 10 years, due to dry spells, heatwaves and flooding, about 10.1 million people suffer from severe food shortages, meaning they do not have enough food until the next harvest. The assessment, which is based on UN Food and Agriculture Organization and World Food Programme missions to the country last month and in November 2018, concluded that the reduced harvest, coupled with increased post-harvest losses, has led to an uncovered food deficit of 1.36 million metric tons after considering the commercial import capacity of the country.

                       In April, the Council of Europe published the twelfth annual report on the supervision of the execution of judgments and the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights 2018. In total, in 2018, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was able to close 2,705 cases and the total number of cases pending before the Committee is currently its lowest since 2006 and the total number of cases pending before the Committee was 6,151 on 31 December compared to 7,500 cases pending at the end of 2017. One of the principle reasons for the high number of closures was the Committee’s practice, in relation to complex and systemic problems, of closing repetitive cases in which all the possible individual measures needed to provide redress to the applicant have been taken, while continuing to supervise the general measures required to remedy the underlying problem through the optic of a few representative leading cases.
